John Chaney,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
John Chaney is chairman and CEO of PreCash Inc., one of the nation's leading retail cash
payment networks. During his career, Mr. Chaney has successfully completed more than 30
acquisitions and created more than a dozen start-up companies.
Mr. Chaney joined PreCash in September 1999 as a member of the company's board of directors. In
May 2001 he was elected as the Chairman of the Board and CEO. Under his leadership, the company's
revenue has grown by more than 2,000 percent. In early 2005, PreCash, which now processes more than
$1 billion a year through its system, announced that its product line has increased to include all
of the major wireless carriers.
Previously, Mr. Chaney had guided the growth of TeleCheck Services Inc., the world's leading
check acceptance provider, from a small independent franchise to an international company with
annual revenue of several hundred million dollars, over 2,000 employees, 400,000 retail customers
and more than a million check transactions daily. Mr. Chaney, who co-founded TeleCheck in 1976,
sold the company to a predecessor of First Data Corp. (NYSE: FDC) in 1992. In 1995 he was promoted
to group president of First Data, managing seven operating companies over a three-year period. He
left FDC in 1998 to pursue private investment opportunities as managing director of Convergent
Investors, a Houston/Austin based venture capital firm.
Mr. Chaney has served on numerous boards and charitable organizations. He holds a BA from
Principia College with majors in computer science, business administration and economics and served
as an officer in the United States Air Force. Mr. Chaney resides in Houston, Texas.
Calvin Williams,
Executive Vice President of Sales
Calvin Williams joined PreCash in July 2002 with 30 years of sales and marketing experience.
Most recently, he was with TeleCheck Services as an executive committee member and vice president
of sales for the Western region of the United States. For 20 years, Williams led commercial lending
teams and served as president for subsidiary banks for what is now known as J.P. Morgan Chase Bank
of Texas. He holds a BBA in finance from the University of Texas.
Richard Dietz,
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Richard Dietz brought 15 years of corporate finance experience to PreCash, after
holding the positions of executive vice president, chief financial officer and secretary with
Gardenburger, Inc. At Gardenburger, Dietz raised $100 million in capital to support the company's
extensive national branding efforts and retail expansion, helping to expand the company from $12
million in annual sales to over $100 million. He has also held senior level positions with Wyatt
Software Inc., Fine Arts Graphics (now a part of ImageX.com), and Blount Inc.'s Oregon Cutting
Systems Division. Dietz gained his public accounting experience at Arthur Andersen LLP and has
attended the Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School. He received an M.B.A. from the
University of Oregon and a B.S. in Business Administration from Oregon State University.
Matt Callanan,
Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Matt Callanan joined PreCash in February 1999 to lead the design and deployment of PreCash's
payment processing services. From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Callanan gained extensive experience as a
Systems Architect at XO Communications, designing transaction processing systems to support
high-capacity and high-availability. At XO, he also led the re-architecture and implementation of a
prepaid billing platform for MCI WorldCom, including POS activation services to Target, Wal-Mart,
Sam’s Clubs, and convenience stores. Prior to XO, he was a Systems Implementer with Consolidated
Edison of New York. Mr. Callanan holds a B.A. in computer science from Iona College in New York.
Randy Templeton,
Executive Vice President of Marketing
Randy Templeton joined PreCash in July 2003 with more than 20 years of market and product
development experience. Templeton most recently served as senior vice president of strategic
marketing and product development for TeleCheck Services, where he developed strategy and
initiatives that fueled the company’s growth to several hundred million dollars in annual revenue.
He was a founding member of the NACHA Electronic Check Council and a participant on the Federal
Reserve Payment Advisory Council. He also served on the board of directors for Paymentech Merchant
Services. Templeton attended the London Business School’s course on Strategic Thinking and
completed additional graduate studies in Political Sociology at Emory University. Templeton earned
his B.S. in Political Science from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Steven Taylor,
Senior Vice President, Operations
Steve Taylor came to PreCash in 2002 as Controller and Vice President of Finance. He assumed
his current position as Senior Vice President of Operations in October of 2006. Prior to his career
at PreCash, Taylor served as CFO for Assembletech L.P. in Houston, Texas. He also brought
significant payments industry experience to PreCash, having previously served as Vice President of
Finance for TeleCheck Services, Inc., where his last position directed mergers, acquisitions and
joint ventures. Taylor is a Certified Public Accountant with a B.S. in Accounting from Northern
Arizona University.
Cynthia D. Sparkman,
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
With more than 20 years of experience, Cindy Sparkman brings a wealth of human resources
knowledge to PreCash. She joined the company in October of 2007. Most recently Cindy was vice
president, human resources for Cameron. Cindy has extensive experience with international and
domestic human resources, including employee relations, change management, acquisition and
divestitures, coaching and counseling, performance management, succession planning and benefits and
compensation. Cindy has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Houston, is a
certified Birkman consultant and is licensed in neuro-linguistic programming. She currently serves
on the Stages Repertory Theatre board of directors. Cindy has also served on the West University
Place City Council and park board, and the Galleria Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
